Chinese Nursing delegation attended the 16th ICN Asian Workforce Forum in Singapore

A four people delegation, led by Drs Li Xiuhua and Liu Huaping, President and executive Vice President of the Chinese Nursing Association, attended the 16th ICN Asia Workforce Forum (AWFF) in Singapore from 15 to 19 November 2015. More than 30 participants including the presidents and delegates of the Nursing Associations from China, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, as well as China's Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan and other cuuntries and regions participated in the Forum. Entrusted by Ms Judith Shamian, President of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), Ms Bell Lesley, responsible person for the ICN Asia Workforce Forum from ICN, chaired the Forum. There were a wide range of discussions and academic exchange in the Forum on the development of the nurses' working environment, the wages of nurse, nurse human resources, nurse career development, nursing education in the Asia Pacific region and relevant topics in the 149th Document of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Nursing Workers' Conference. Drs Li Xiuhua and Liu Huaping, President and executive Vice President of the CNA in turn reported the current situation of the above mentioned field and burning issues in the recent year's nursing development in China and participated in two days extensive exchanges with other cuuntries and regions. At the end of the Forum, delegates from various cuuntries and regional nursing associations jointly considered the application of "China Beijing bid for the 17th ICN Asia Workforce Forum 2016"and watched video introduction for Beijing, developed by the China Nursing Association, so the final decision will be announced by the ICN through the Board of Directors in the near future.

During the Forum, Dr Li Xiuhua, President of the CNA also proposed to convene a joint meeting of the Nursing Associations from the Four Places Cross Strait and finalized many specific arrangements for the Four Places Cross Strait Nursing Conference to be held in Hong Kong in early December 2015.

In the evening of 19 December 2015, the 9th Nursing Leaders' Meeting from China, Japan and Korea was held with participation of Drs Li Xiuhua and Liu Huaping, President and executive Vice President of the CNA,  Ms Suga Sakamoto, President of the Japanese Nurses Association, Ms Soo Yang, executive Vice President of the South Korean Nurses Association and members of each delegation. The meeting discussed the date, size and scope of 2016 the 4th China-Japan- Korea Nursing Conference to be held in Beijing. Three parties unanimously adopted the regulation for the conference and look forward to further cooperation in all fields of nursing sector among the three cuuntries.
