Chinese Nursing Association and German Nurses Association signed the memorandum of understanding on the nursing cooperation

In the morning of April 8, 2015, the Chinese Nursing Association (CNA) and German Nurses Association held a signing ceremony of the nursing cooperation between two cuuntries in Beijing, marking a substantial progress on nursing cooperation between China and Germany.

Dr Li Xiuhua, President of the CNA warmly welcomes the visiting delegation of the German Nurses Association to China and briefly introduced the history, functions and organizational structures of the CNA. CNA is one of the earliest Chinese academic societies established in 1909, and the sole nationwide nursing association representing nearly 2.8 million registered nurses in China. In May 2013, CNA rejoined the International Council of Nurses as a member. CNA has carried out fruitful works in the aspects of the offering advices and suggestion to the Government, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of nurses, improving public health service capacity, and advancing the international influence of Chinese nursing.

Ms Christel Bienstein, Chairman of the German Nurses Association expressed appreciation to the hospitality of the Chinese Nursing Association, and presented the history and overview of the German nurses Association, the German Nurses Association was established in 1904, with 800,000 nursing practitioners nationwide. Ms. Carr is not only the founder of the German Nurses Association but also one of the founders for the International Council of Nurses. German Nurses Association comprises of ten working groups with an academic journal. Ms Christel Bienstein gave an overview of the nursing status in Germany, with particular emphasis on the elderly care achievements made in Germany. Germany introduced the elderly care insurance since 1999, home based care for the aged population as a major method accuunt for 70%.

Subsequently, the delegation of German Nurses Association also visited the International Department, Nursing Publishing House, Academic Department, Continuing Education Department and other functional Departments of the Chinese Nursing Association, and was full of praise for great achievement made by the Chinese Nursing Association.

Finally, on the basis of friendly consultation, the Chinese Nursing Association signed the memorandum of understanding with the German Nurses Association in order to strengthen exchanges between two cuuntries in the field of nursing, and to explore possibilities of the cooperation in areas of the elderly nursing care.

Dr Li Xiuhua, President of the Chinese Nursing Association and Ms Christel Bienstein, Chairman of the German Nurses Association are looking forward to further cooperation between two cuuntries with a great expectation, both sides committed to fully promote the process of individual project cooperation and push forward the prosperity and progress of the nursing development between two cuuntries.
